Riverwalk Storytime: Picnic on the Riverwalk (NIC)

Staff will present this popular Riverwalk program, which will include stories, songs and a puppet show. Participants can bring a meal or snack. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be held in the Community Room at Nichols Library. There will be no Riverwalk Storytimes the week of July 3. (The Wednesday lunchtime program will be a repeat of the Tuesday evening program.) These programs are presented in partnership with Naperville Park District.

Brown Bag Lecture: Laura Ingalls Wilder (95th)

Bring a sack lunch to this lunchtime lecture series at 12:30 p.m., and stay for an engaging lecture beginning at 1 p.m. Coffee and dessert will be provided. This month, Accent on History presents “Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Young Girl Forever.” This two-part dramatic presentation features the adult Laura and her daughter Rose. Laura Ingalls had been away from the prairie for over thirty years, when her daughter, Rose, a newspaper journalist, suggested that Laura write about her life growing up on the prairie. She was 65 when her first book, “Little House in the Big Woods” was published and she went on to write a series of ten books before her death at the age of 90. Get introduced to the mature Laura as she shares her thoughts on the prairie, life with her husband, and becoming an author so late in life.
